Searching for Sicily
Beginnings
With 100% Italian roots going back generations, Italy has always called to us. Especially those areas our ancestors left to pursue better lives in America.
So in September, 2022, Micali cousins Jack, Cecelia, Anne, Bill, and Jennifer set out to explore some ancient towns and to learn more about our heritage.
This trip focused on 2 towns in Sicily: Corleone and Montalbano Elicona. Mezzojuso was originally on the itinerary, but the group ran out of time to visit.
Sicily is roughly the size of Vermont, and about 4 hours to drive across. So we planned a Palermo base and a relaxation stop in Taormina in order to explore the towns of interest on this trip.
From Palermo we would be able to visit relatives in Corleone, and then stop in Montalbano on our way to Taormina.
